Using the Online Library

The search box will connect you instantly to:

  • all physical items in all three libraries (books, DVDs, journals, etc.)
  • all databases we subscribe to
  • all journals we subscribe to

It's a quick and efficient way to start your research to find trusted and reliable sources for your project. Save time and energy by starting here!

Need to access the libraries' databases from off campus? No problem! You just need to log on with your Aurora College student credentials. Below is a brief video that will show you how.

Start your search on the homepage, located here.

You have the option to search different locations:

  • All campus libraries (Aurora, Thebacha, Yellowknife/North Slave and Aurora Research Institute)
  • Or each library individually

You can search by keyword, title, or author. This will help you find something specific. These options are located in a pull-down menu here:

Logging in Remotely

If you are not on campus, you still have access to these online resources. You'll just need to log-in using your My Aurora College email and password.

  • First, click on the link that says "Hello Guest. Login for full access."

  • Enter in your student email address (firstname.lastname@myauroracollege.ca) and your password (this will be the same password you use to log-in to the student computers on campus

This will give you full access to the online resources that the College licenses for your use, even off-site!

Once you get in to the Discovery Service, you can select the same type of search options, as seen here:

Below the search bar, and beside the search results, you can filter your search results so that items that are more relevant to you will show up:

Some useful filters are:

  • Publication date (to select more recent or older documents)
  • Source types (to select books, DVDs, or eresources)
  • Catalogue only (to select physical materials only)

Each search will include digital/online and physical materials. If it is a physical item, like a book or DVD, it looks like this:

Each result shows you where the item is located, the call number (which tells you where in the library it is), and its status (is it checked out or on the shelves), and if it is a book or DVD.

If it is a digital item like an e-book or an online article, it will look like this:
